Therapists for college students near Denver, CO
I utilize evidenced based interventions from both acceptance and commitment therapy and trauma-informed care principles in my practice. I graduated in 2017 from the University of Denver with my Masters in Social Work and have been providing both inpatient and outpatient treatment since that time. My education and both, personal and professional experiences have allowed me to develop skills to work with diverse, often marginalized populations, such as members of the LGBTQIA+ population or those where English is not their first language. My specialities for work center around severe mental illnesses, such as: schizophrenia and other thought disorders, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders. Typically clients I work with have the above noted challenges, but have also experienced other stressors in their relationships, employment, and/or with addiction(s) of some kind.
Finding ourselves stuck in problems that we can't seem to figure out isn't uncommon and asking for help isn't easy, but it is a brave first step. My hope is that once I have the opportunity to get to know you and your unique experiences, I can help you to develop the skills to manage life's challenges in a way that you can be proud of. I have worked with children, families and adults and tailor my practice to the individuals I serve. I strive to create a space that is safe, non-judgemental and considers the complexity of your life. My past work has been with individuals of all ages who have experienced complex trauma and the resulting depression, anxiety, anger, fear, shame and grief. I strive to create a safe and anti-oppressive practice that respects, validates and affirms individual racial, ethnic, religious, spiritual, gender and sexual identities. I believe that people are meant to live in relationship, but that often we get stuck in negative cycles of relating to ourselves, others and the world that keep us from growth and joy. In my own life, I have worked and continue to work to break down these things for myself, and I am honored to join others in their work to do the same. :)

I believe in a collaborative healing approach. Together, we identify areas of concern and develop strategies for change. I also believe in exploring the underlying causes of our struggles. My approach is varied, taking and blending techniques from a variety of sources, rather than relying on a single system of intervention. I strive to create a safe environment for my clients to explore their world in an authentic way. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with the State of Colorado. Individual Therapy - Recognizing the need for change can be exciting. The path forward is sometimes unclear, and at times, overwhelming. Together, we will develop a plan for the change you desire. Over time, this change can become long-lasting, and transformative. Couples Counseling - We all bring our personal history and experience to relationship. I believe that sharing this story with your partner in different ways can reveal a deeper level of understanding and intimacy. A new way of relating announces itself; revealing entirely new possibilities in your relationship.
Kaitlin Boyd is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Yoga Teacher. She specializes in helping teens and adults who are struggling with worry and sadness and want to learn how to confidently embody their authentic selves. Many of her clients are Empaths or Highly Sensitive People--they crave "more" out of life and are seekers with big questions about how to create a life worth living. They have a multitude of strengths, including the ability to feel deep compassion for others and to think critically about the world we live in. But they can also struggle with feeling misunderstood and can develop low self-confidence after focusing so much of their time and attention on others. In therapy, Kaitlin works to help clients express their true selves and find inner peace. Her approach is holistic and evidence-based, using techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Somatic Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), and Existential Therapy. She teaches skills to help clients cope and relate to others in healthy ways, as well as mindfulness to get in touch with the "root cause" of clients' suffering, which can be anything from an unhelpful thought pattern to an unexpressed emotion. Kaitlin welcomes a diversity of clientele and provides a safe space for clients interested in exploring their experience of oppression in the multitude of ways it manifests in our culture. Kaitlin offers the flexibility of remote online therapy sessions.

My name is Jennifer Koch (She/Her). I am a 30 year experienced somatic mind-body oriented therapist who provides support for adolescents and adults moving through issues related to depression, anxiety, PTSD, sexual abuse survivors, medical trauma, falls/injuries, car accidents, substance use, grief/loss, LGBTQIA+ and other life transitions. Clients reach out for many reasons. Some are noticing distressing memories, fears, worry, or sadness impacting their relationships, employment, and sleep. Life is going okay, but you know it could be better. You want better relationships or you’re having trouble navigating boundaries with that one family member. Being in college or graduate school often means navigating big transitions, shifting relationships, academic pressure, identity exploration, and uncertainty about the future. You may look like you’re holding it together on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, or stuck on the inside. My role is not to “fix” you, but to help you reconnect with your own capacity to heal and grow. The coping strategies that helped you survive earlier seasons of life may no longer be serving you. In our work together, we’ll build on your existing strengths while developing new skills that support resilience, emotional regulation, and authentic self-trust. I have experience working in hospitals, schools, and in a university setting, and I specialize in working with survivors of trauma. My trauma-informed approach prioritizes safety and nervous system regulation first. We focus on building your ability to feel grounded and present before engaging in deeper trauma processing, and healing does not require you to relive or recount everything before you’re ready. Starting therapy, especially with a new provider, can feel vulnerable. I aim to create a space that feels steady, collaborative, and respectful of your pace. If you’re considering beginning therapy for the first time or returning after a break, I welcome the opportunity to talk and see if we’re a good fit. I provide teletherapy to clients 18+ across Colorado, and in person sessions in Longmont, CO. Due to a conflict of interest, I am unable to work with current students of the University of Colorado Boulder. Reach out by text, call, or message to schedule a consultation.
College can be exciting—but also overwhelming. If you’re feeling anxious, burnt out, unmotivated, or unsure of how to manage everything on your plate, you’re not alone. I specialize in working with college students navigating the stress of academics, relationships, identity, and big life transitions. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, ADHD, depression, or past trauma, my goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can explore what’s going on, learn practical tools to feel more in control, and start to feel like yourself again. My approach is warm, collaborative, and real—I meet you where you are and work with you to set goals that actually make sense for your life. Together, we’ll find strategies that fit you, whether that’s therapy, medication support, or both. You don’t have to figure it all out on your own. Reach out if you’re ready to get started.
About My Clients My clients bring their strengths, lived experiences, and wisdom to our therapy sessions every day. They bring resilience from the traumatic experiences they face and many of my clients bring and/or discuss the ways relationships impact their day to day lives. My Approach to Helping As a social worker, marriage and family therapist in training, and educator I value and center the wisdom that clients bring into the therapeutic conversation. My values also lie heavily in centering and validating the experiences of my clients from an inclusive perspective. My goal is to balance trusting the client to make the best decisions for themselves and create space for collaboration in the therapeutic process. Whether it is Individual, Couples Therapy, or Family Therapy, I believe that therapeutic interventions are tools that support the relationships, not replace them! Being a woman of color in the field of mental health guides and builds empathy in my work. I believe in creating a comfortable and supportive environment that encourages trust-building and playfulness when appropriate. I approach my work through meeting my clients where they are and creating customized clinical experiences based on the needs of my clients.
