I help couples and families learn to communicate their needs and feelings effectively. I work extensively with people suffering from chronic illnesses (e.g. AIDS) and those who care for them. I believe that we never lose our creative spark, and that with the right tools, it can be accessed and implemented as a healing force. With creative expression, we can imagine real life scenarios through multiple lenses, and look into the past and the future through different perspectives. No matter your age, art making can be used to make sense of our emotional landscape, foster self-compassion and organize our thoughts, which can get jumbled in the hustle and bustle of life. I utilize an integrative approach that marries both Art Therapy and traditional psychotherapy. No experience using art materials is needed! I received my Masters degree from Pratt Institute, and have experience working with children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics in a private practice and hospital setting, including Yale New Haven Pediatric Hospital. I provide a person-centered approach based on my client’s personal needs, past experiences, beliefs, and goals. Through creative expression and psychoanalytic psychotherapy my clients have experienced increased hope for the future, a more positive mindset, decreased anxiety and stress, identity affirmation, behavior regulation and improved self-esteem. I look forward to embarking on the journey of self-exploration with you!

You’ve always been the one who holds it all together — dependable, driven, the go-to person when others need support. But lately, it might feel like the pressure to succeed is coming at the cost of your peace. You’re not alone in that feeling. I work with students who appear to be doing “just fine” on the outside, but underneath are carrying anxiety, self-doubt, and the weight of high expectations. Together, we’ll create space to explore how your past experiences, values, and internal narratives are shaping the way you move through the world — and gently question whether those patterns are still serving you. Therapy with me is relational, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity. You don’t need to show up with the perfect words or a clear goal — just a willingness to begin.
Mission Liberation Psychotherapy is a private group therapy practice located in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City. Our foundational philosophy is based on the meaningful engagement between the therapist and client and achieved using Carl Rogers’ client-centered techniques of active-listening, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. Liberation Psychotherapy’s primary mission is to help clients explore their experiences thereby clients can heal and grow and embrace their strengths and resiliencies. To honor and respect the uniqueness of our clients, we subscribe broadly to a liberation and integrative model because our attention is drawn to the interplay of the clients’ identities and environments. Liberation is understood through the complex realities and histories in which we are living/having lived through: sociopolitical, economic, cultural. With an integrative approach, our therapists collaborate with clients on which treatment modalities may benefit them and can include: affirmative, bibliotherapy, client-centered, cognitive behavior, creative arts, dialectical behavior therapy, existential, holistic, narrative, psychodynamic, sexology, spiritual, and trauma.

College can be an incredible time of growth—but it can also be overwhelming. Between managing academics, friendships, identity shifts, and planning for your future, it’s normal to feel stretched thin, anxious, or unsure of yourself. Therapy can be a steady place to land—a space where you can process what’s coming up, sort through decisions, and feel more like yourself again. Whether you're navigating a recent breakup, feeling disconnected or burnt out, or just needing someone to talk to who gets it—you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. I work with college students just like you to help build confidence, increase self-awareness, and support your mental, emotional, and relational health in meaningful, real-life ways. Our work is collaborative, judgment-free, and always tailored to who you are and what you need most. If your parent or caregiver is supporting you financially through therapy, that's something we can absolutely talk about—together, we’ll make sure this feels like a valuable, empowering experience for you, and a meaningful investment in your wellbeing. Your life is happening now. Let’s help you feel more stable, supported, and ready to thrive in it. I’d love to hear more about where you’re at and how I can help. 📩 Jennifer@modernmft.com 📞 917.708.7088
