Have you ever felt out of control? Struggled with drugs, alcohol, disruptive behaviors, or anger that seems to take over? If you're ready to make meaningful changes but aren't sure where to start, I'm here to help. I'm Rahim, a Mental Health Counselor Intern specializing in helping individuals overcome substance use, anger management issues, disruptive behaviors, career challenges, and performance stress. My ideal client is someone who's tired of feeling stuck and is ready to develop practical strategies to regain control of their life, improve relationships, and build a more fulfilling future. My counseling approach integrates evidence-based methods like Strengths-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy to help you identify triggers, develop healthy coping skills, and harness your innate resilience. As a Behavioral Health Program Manager and soon-to-be graduate of John Carroll University's Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, I bring both professional training and cultural awareness to our sessions. I create a judgment-free space where teens and young adults can work through challenges while feeling truly heard and supported. I understand taking that first step can feel daunting, but you don't have to face these challenges alone. Whether you're dealing with substance use, disruptive behaviors, anger, career transitions, or overwhelming stress, together we can develop the tools you need to create lasting positive change. When you're ready to start building a stronger, more confident version of yourself, I'll be here to support you every step of the way.

About Me: Hello, I'm Nhi, a dedicated first-generation social work intern in my second year at Columbia University's School of Social Work. I hold a B.A. in Psychology from Grinnell College and bring a deeply personal understanding of mental health challenges shaped by my own experiences as an Asian American in foster care. My journey has been profoundly influenced by the intersection of intergenerational trauma, immigration, and systemic inequalities, providing me with a unique perspective on the complexities of healing and resilience. My Approach: I believe that trauma and mental health struggles do not exist in a vacuum—they are often reflections of broader societal issues. Growing up in a family affected by intergenerational trauma, poverty, and systemic discrimination, I understand firsthand the cascading effects these forces can have on a person's mental and emotional well-being, even into adulthood. This insight drives my therapeutic approach, where I aim to provide a compassionate, culturally sensitive space for clients to explore their experiences and find healing. I bring extensive experience working with diverse populations and complex trauma. During my time as a case manager at a domestic violence shelter, I supported individuals and families from all walks of life, many of whom were dealing with overlapping traumas, including domestic violence, mental health struggles, homelessness, childhood trauma, and identity-based discrimination. This experience reinforced my belief that trauma and mental health challenges are often intertwined with larger societal issues. Mental health challenges can significantly impact daily functioning, even long after the precipitating events have occurred. In some cases, there may be no clear cause, yet the impact is still profound. Regardless of the situation, everyone deserves support in their healing journey. In my practice, I adopt a flexible, client-centered approach, tailoring my methods to meet each individual's unique needs and strengths. I utilize a range of therapeutic techniques, including trauma-informed therapy, person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). I believe every person has the inherent capacity to navigate their challenges, and my role is to support, empower, and provide tools for their journey toward healing. What to Expect: In our work together, you can expect a supportive, non-judgmental environment where your experiences are honored, and your voice is central to the healing process. I am committed to understanding your story in its full context, recognizing the multiple layers of identity and experience that shape who you are. Whether you're dealing with personal trauma, managing day-to-day stressors, or seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, I'm here to walk alongside you, providing the guidance and support you need. I am a pre-licensed therapist intern at Sol Health working under the supervision of Susan Chung, LCSW, MPH. Sol Health is a digital health startup that offers $30 therapy to Gen Zs by connecting them with therapists in-training accruing clinical hours. I love the privilege of working with creative, insightful individuals looking to better understand themselves. Based on what you find useful, we’ll incorporate existential, artistic, spiritual, and humanistic approaches. From me, you can expect warmth, investment, and- where appropriate- humor to support increased perspective. This highly personalized process is one of the best efforts any of us can make for our health. Experienced in treating ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, depression disorders (MDD, PDD), and generalized anxiety. Healing is nonlinear, therapy is best when it’s unrushed, and it’s really important that it happens at your own pace. I am a final-year clinical student at Columbia, focusing on treatment for young adults and adolescents, and did my BA at Yale. "It was what I was born for—to look, to listen, to lose myself inside this soft world." —Mary Oliver, "Mindful"

I work with individuals who are curious to pursue change - whether this be by reflecting on obstacles, with a specific goal in mind, or simply because something feels as if it is not "working" for them. One does not have to be 100% motivated to use therapy well, instead, s/he/they can come to sessions with any sense of willingness to explore.

I specialize in working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds (BIPOC & LGBTQ+ adults) who are navigating life’s challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, anger management, identity exploration (racial, sexual, and gender), abuse, and internalized shame. You don’t have to carry it all alone, shrink yourself, or show up perfectly—I’m here to offer a supportive, affirming space where you can show up authentically, be seen, and heal in a way that feels aligned with your values. As a Black, queer, Afro-traditional spiritualist, my work is deeply rooted in love, liberation, and wellness. I believe healing is both a personal and collective journey—one that calls for self-exploration, connection, and the unlearning of narratives that no longer serve us. My approach blends personal wisdom with professional expertise, allowing me to support clients in understanding how systemic oppression and interpersonal experiences shape their daily lives. I am passionate about creating spaces where people can reclaim their autonomy, heal from trauma, and redefine their narratives in ways that honor their truth. I believe that transformation happens when we feel safe enough to show up fully as ourselves, and I strive to cultivate that safety for every client I work with. If you're seeking a space to explore, heal, and step into your power, I’d be honored to walk alongside you! If you’re interested in reinviting balance and harmony back into your life, please feel free to send an email to awilhite@therapyinsghtspractice.com so that we can discuss further.

Clients who come to me have expressed feeling a change in their mood, such as feeling more irritable, more anxious than usual or that they just don't feel like themselves and aren't enjoying things that they once used to. I will provide you with a non-judgmental and accepting environment where you can feel comfortable talking openly about difficult emotions and topics. Since each person is a unique individual with his or her own experiences, I use a holistic approach to therapy that’s unique to who you are and what you will need to support your well-being. In therapy we will explore connections between your past and present experiences so you can gain a deeper sense of awareness about yourself, identify problems so you can get to the bottom of why you are feeling the way you area and learn coping skills so you can better manage symptoms and find relief in challenging moments. Mental health concerns that I specialize in but are not limited to include: anxiety, depression and trauma, as well as family dynamics, life transitions, career-related stress and self-esteem. We’re told all sorts of misinformed messages that downplay the importance of mental health, so it’s no surprise if you are hesitant or nervous about the idea of therapy but remember that you are entitled to get help, no matter what you are going through.

Hi there! Have you ever felt like your thoughts are racing but the words just won't come out? Have you ever felt the anxiety of overthinking and overanalyzing? Or that despite knowing what you “should” do, making changes feels overwhelming? Perhaps you're navigating the complexities of interpersonal relationships, cultural identity, family expectations, or that persistent feeling that no one quite understands your experience. I want you to know that these feelings are deeply valid, and you're not alone in this journey. Taking this first step toward healing shows incredible courage, and thank you for considering sharing your story with me. I'm Toni, a first-year Master's student in Social Work at Columbia University, building upon my foundation in my bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology from NYU. I believe in creating a genuine and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself. My approach combines warmth and gentle humor with practical strategies, creating a space where both healing and growth can flourish. While my foundation combines client-centered therapy with CBT and an existential approach, I believe in adapting therapeutic approaches to what works best for you. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach, I draw from various modalities to create a personalized therapeutic experience that aligns with your needs and goals. Together, we'll work on transforming overwhelming thoughts into manageable steps, building confidence in your decisions, and helping you feel more grounded in who you are. As a 1.5 generation Asian American therapist-in-training, I bring both professional training and personal understanding to our sessions, especially when it comes to navigating cultural expectations, family dynamics, and the unique pressures of straddling multiple identities. I create a trauma-informed, culturally affirming space where you can explore these experiences openly and draw strength from your heritage. Your story matters, and I'm here to listen with empathy, understanding, and zero judgment. Let's collaborate on your journey toward healing and self-discovery, celebrating each step forward while honoring your unique experiences and strengths. Toni Yu is a therapist-in-training at Sol Health. Sol Health is a digital health startup that offers $30 therapy to Gen Zs by connecting them with therapists-in-training accruing clinical hours.
